Wow! I read this book in a day. I could not put it down. Such an emotional rollercoaster. I just cried through the beginning, every parents worst nightmare.
What Ray and Vi have done with this awful tragedy is truly remarkable.
I would recommend reading this.
The ripple effect will be with me for ever - good ripples

I recommend you read the back outside cover first. It frightened and shocked me. It challenged me to read on. Even the endorsements were a challenge for me to over come. Every page has something that challenged my view of the world, that shook my view of reality up and down. Every chapter had something that made me gasp. Why? because I know it is the absolute truth. How? Because I heard the story directly from Ray and Vi over a period of 2 weekends even before I'd heard about the book. That means when I'd finished reading it I had and have a different view of : God, murderers, the police, justice as a philosophy, forgiveness, restorative justice and reconciliation. Equally I know, now that individual people can and do change aspects of society they feel strongly about.
This book is not a religious text book. It is a statement of how a parents love for their son fortified by their faith drove them on to survive murder, to forgive and become reconciled with the murderers and to champion remarkable changes for restorative justice.
Forgiveness can occur through restorative justice although it is not expected and victims should never be urged to forgive. If forgiveness does happen , as it did in the Donovan’s lives, then a deeper healing occurs and all benefit.
LISA REA, PRESIDENT, RESTORATIVE JUSTICE INTERNATIONAL
Ray and Vi have shown a huge amount of courage, first meeting those who killed Chris, then facing prisoners across the country to challenge them on their behaviour and choices and tackling decision makers about the greater use of restorative justice.
The pedestal that I am putting them on here is not apparent when one meets the down-to-earth couple at first. It doesn’t take long to se their dedication, energy and resolve shine through in the conversation.

……..
Ray and Vi have managed, though to create a real force for good from the desolation of Christopher being taken from them. They have channelled whatever emotions they had into spreading the word and showing the world that losses like theirs can be avoided. By their tireless campaigning they are ensuring that Christopher is still helping others and changing lives just as I am sure he would have done if his had not been cut short.
