Making sense of sentencing: Vi and Ray Donovan MBEs
Yesterday I joined Ray & Vi Donovan of the Chris Donovan Trust along with Danny O'Brien from Anti-Knife UK to walk around Sutton High Street looking at how shops were displaying their knives for sale. Pound and More at the bottom now have theirs behind glass and Robert Dyas have a lock on each of the display hangers which need a member of staff. Asda and Poundland had nothing which meant they could easily be stolen and used as a weapon. Securing these doesn't have to be expensive for the retailers or too onerous for customers but can save lives.
Brutally murdered teenager - parents talk of change
In 2001 Christopher Donovan was murdered in a senseless killing that saw his assailants handed lengthy jail sentences. Just over a decade later, his parents Ray and Vi discuss in detail the ordeal and its aftermath, as well as their experiences meeting their son's killers face to face.
